Forum das Americas is a Brazilian think-tank that works in two related fields: in the organization and promotion of events, workshops, seminars and conferences in relevant themes for the international scene; and as an intermediate and an implementing agency of international cooperation agreements which became official through Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) between institutions from different countries.

Since late 2010, Forum das Americas has been working directly with the environmental-related themes, especially sustainable development and green economy. These areas have been prioritized due to the signature of MoUs between the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea (IMELS) with the Institute of the Environment of the State of Rio de Janeiro (INEA) and, more recently, with the Secretariat of Energy of the State of Sao Paulo.

In 2011, 16 out of 18 events organized by Forum were related to the environment and together they reached more than 17,500 people. Some examples are the Sustainable Development Forum in 2011; the workshop Biomass Sustainability as an Energy Source, developed in partnership with USP’s Institute of Energy; the exhibition Italy: Sustainable Life, which took place in Base Italia, during the World Military Games in Rio de Janeiro; the workshop Risk Management and Prevention of Floods and Landslides, in partnership with INEA; and the seminar Effects of Global Warming on the Microzoning and Management of Water Resources for the Watersheds of the State of Sao Paulo, in partnership with the Foundation of Support to Agricultural Research (Fundag).
